As many of you know, I quit my job, and am moving to Spain in August to pursue my MBA. In the mean time, I am spending 5 weeks in Cuba, and another 5 weeks in Mexico -- brushing up on my Spanish. I plan on periodically sending out emails to everyone who has received this, so if you want to be removed from my list, please let me know (I won't be offended).
I just arrived in Havan yesterday, and havent done a lot yet. Last night I went out with some people from my school to some old castle where they had a touristy exhibition of soldiers firing off a canon (with marching soldiers, drum rolls, and and guys dressed up in old spanish uniforms) ... It was neat because the castle is actually used by the Cuban army as a barracks. There is also a disco in the castle that overlooks the entrance to a harbour. We ended up staying there for a few beers, checked out another few discos, but everything was dead since mondays are quiet around here (apparently). After that me and a two other guys from my school bought a bottle of Rum for $3.00, and went and had some drinks on the street. It seems to be common here to hang out and drink and party on the street at night.
My spanish class this mornight was pretty good, but I was damn tired due to waking up at 7:30 after hanging out on the street until 3:00am. I think I'll learn a lot since I spend 4 hours a day in a private lesson. I managed to miss my Salsa dance lesson, and my Guitar lesson today though, due to a mis-communication.
That is about all for now, but I'll write soon
