Day 11.

It is interesting in cuba that when people want to get your attention (or the attention of anyone), they make a wierd hissing sound kind of like ¨psssssssssst¨ which would be considered rude in any other place, but here it seems to be common. If you want the waiter to come to your table, and you can´t get his attention, you just hiss at him.

Also, they have an interesting system of busses here. Basically some of the busses are old semi-trucks, that pull behind them a long semi-type-trailer that has windows in it. It is quite a strange looking contraption that came about during the fuel crisis that occured after the russians pulled out of cuba in the early 90s.

I went to the beach yesterday, and even there, some guy tried to sell me some girls. He told me he had two ¨muy blanca¨(i.e. white) girls for cheap. I just told him to go away. The beach is about 15 minutes outside of Havana, and costs about $12 to go each way. I went with 4 other students from my school, and the water was amazingly warm, and the sand was super nice.

This afternoon, I am supposed to go to ¨Casa de la musica¨ which is a salsa disco type place taht opens around 5 until 8, and kicks everyone out, and then re-opens in the evening for a more expensive admision. Last week I was supposed to meet a girl from my school there in the afternoon, but when we made the plans, I was drunk, and I forgot. Turned out that she waited for me for about an hour .... oops.

For those of you who are curios how the internet works here, it is available only in Tourist hotels, and cubans are not allowed into such hotels. This is one aspect of how the government controls access to information for the cuban people.

The people that I have been hanging out with from my school are mostlyl swiss, german, dutch, and english. There is one american chick who came a few days ago, and no-one likes here. Americans really are different that Canadians and Europeans. This chick just doesn´t shut up ... and she talks about how great her school is, how she knows famous people ... bla bla bullshit bullshit bullshit. Americans really have no idea how to behave outside of their own country. God bless america.
